About Us

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, DeLawrence Shepherd graduated from Hogan High School in 1982. After graduation, he moved to Virginia and joined the United States Navy. During his first tour of duty on board the USS NIMITZ, Mr. Shepherd gave his life to the Lord. During his 21 year career in the US Navy,  he earned twelve medals and retired as Chief Petty Officer. 

In September of 2005, after moving back to Kansas City, he began a new career within the family business at the Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Funeral Chapels, where he continues to serve faithfully. 

He was blessed to be the founding Pastor of the Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ. 

Originally from East St. Louis, Illinois, Kimberly McCoy, with her family, moved to Kansas City, Missouri in her teens. She graduated from Hogan High School in 1982 and in November of the same year, she married her high school sweetheart, DeLawrence Shepherd. 

After having attended a COGIC Sunday service, Mrs. Shepherd gave her life to the Lord.  She would go on to answer the calling on her life and becoming a licensed Missionary.

Together, Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd have 4 children and 6 precious grandchildren.
